Aboriginal Art Metal Dogs

Enjoy your very own piece of original, hand painted artwork. Freestanding, each one of these metal dogs, represents a real animal from the Yuendumu region and are made in collaboration with the Alice Springs prison. They are handpainted with love by artists at Warlukurlangu.

Metal dog original artworks help support the community based social programs, keeping animals and people in Yuendumu healthy, safe and happy.

Metal dogs are hand painted on both sides.

More about the work:
Rambo is a Dingo , he was near an outstation 150 km from Yuendumu. Children hunted him but when he was brought to the community they decided that it was better for him to be with the Dog Lady. He learn to trust people and now he enjoys coming and going from the house.

Dogs in Warlpiri are called ‘Jarntu’ or ‘maliki’ . Families in Yuendumu tend to own many dogs. They are good ‘marlpa’ (company). Many people think of their dogs as ‘warlalja’ (family). Dogs in Yuendumu like to follow their owners around whenever they can.
