Introducing Bayley Arts - Cats and Creativity
Introducing Bayley House: Cats and Creativity in Australian Art
At Alperstein Designs, art is at the heart of everything we do. It connects people, tells stories and celebrates creativity in all its forms. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our newest collaboration with Bayley Arts, a not-for-profit organisation in Brighton, Victoria, that empowers adults with intellectual disabilities through creativity, learning, and community.

Who are Bayley Arts?
Bayley Arts provides a vibrant, inclusive environment where artists can express themselves and develop their skills through a range of programs, including their well-loved art studio. Here, creativity knows no bounds. The studio is a place where individuality shines, and every artist is celebrated for their unique perspective and imagination.

Why We Collaborated
Our purpose has always been to bring art into everyday life, to create gifts that celebrate the work of Australian artists and art centres across the country. Each collaboration is chosen with care, built on shared values of creativity, authenticity, and connection.
While our collections are often recognised for Aboriginal and Australiana artwork, our collaboration with Bayley Arts continues this same commitment in a fresh, new way. It’s about sharing the work of local artists, nurturing Australian creativity and celebrating the rich diversity of artistic voices that shape our creative landscape.
Art takes many forms, from Dreaming stories and native flora to, in this case, something a little cheekier: cats!
This collaboration is an invitation to see Australian art through a broader lens, where joy, expression and imagination all play their part.

Meet the Artist: Louise Taffs
Louise Taffs is a visual artist known for her playful portraits of cats and rabbits, brought to life with bold colours and expressive detail. Working mainly with posca pens on paper and board, her art captures the quirky charm of her subjects with warmth and personality.
A nature lover and multidisciplinary artist, Louise has explored painting, ceramics, beading and screen printing throughout her career. She has exhibited widely through Bayside City Council and Bayley Arts annual exhibitions, with her work recently featured in Ink It Up at the Bayley Arts Gallery.

Art with Purpose
By collaborating with Bayley Arts and artists like Louise, we’re proud to continue our mission of supporting Australian artists and creating meaningful opportunities through art. Every purchase helps support the incredible programs at Bayley Arts, ensuring artists can continue to express themselves, grow their confidence and share their creativity with the world.
